Robotics Reinforcement Learning Engineer
Hybrid – Vancouver, BC
$250,000 – $270,000 + Equity + Benefits

We’re seeking a Robotics Reinforcement Learning Engineer to join an advanced robotics research and development team working on the next generation of humanoid and assistive systems. This role focuses on building scalable reinforcement learning models that teach robots to move, balance, and adapt to dynamic, real-world environments.

You’ll bridge the gap between simulation and reality—developing algorithms that translate theoretical research into stable, responsive, and intelligent motion on physical platforms.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and train reinforcement learning models for complex locomotion and motion control.
  • Leverage large-scale parallel simulation to generalize policies across diverse terrains and use cases.
  • Apply sim-to-real techniques (e.g., domain randomization) for robust policy transfer.
  • Develop tools, frameworks, and automation workflows to streamline training and evaluation.
  • Contribute to continuous testing pipelines that validate model performance and safety.
  • Collaborate closely with control, hardware, and software teams to ensure seamless real-world deployment.
Core qualifications:
  • MSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience with physics simulation tools such as MuJoCo, Isaac Gym, or Bullet.
  • Proficient in Python and C++ with strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiar with reinforcement learning frameworks (e.g., Stable Baselines, RLlib, PyTorch).
  • Solid understanding of robotic dynamics, control systems, and motion planning.
  • Prior experience developing or testing robotic systems, ideally legged or assistive platforms.
  • Knowledge of sim-to-real transfer methods and curriculum learning.
  • Experience modeling human-like or stylistic motion behaviors.
  • Ability to deploy trained policies directly onto hardware.
What’s on offer:
  • Impact: Help shape the future of intelligent robotic motion and autonomy.
  • Technology: Work with state-of-the-art humanoid and assistive robotics platforms.
  • Flexibility: Hybrid role based in Vancouver—combining collaboration and autonomy.
  • Compensation: $250,000 – $270,000 salary, stock options, health coverage, and paid time off.
  • Environment: Join a multidisciplinary team driven by innovation, experimentation, and real-world results.
  • Growth: Opportunities to specialize, take ownership, and advance as the team scales.
