To further develop their platforms, they have an immediate and exciting opening for a Lead Data Engineer to work on a 3-day hybrid model from their London office.
Lead Data Engineer duties will:
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Architect efficient database schemas for large geospatial and time-series datasets.
- Lead the integration of core products to enhance data capabilities.
- Manage and mentor a team of 2–3 data engineers, fostering growth and collaboration.
- Provide technical oversight to ensure high-quality, efficient project delivery.
- Align team projects with broader business objectives.
- Drive innovation in data engineering practices within the organisation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Technology, Science, and Product teams.
- Proficiency in Python, AWS, Bash, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience with ETL pipelines, data modelling, and data warehousing.
- Expertise in designing and managing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for complex data challenges.
- Proven leadership or mentoring experience in a technical environment.
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark (desirable).
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and visualisation tools like Tableau (desirable).
- A base salary of circa 100-120k
