Our client, a leading Austin-based technology company is looking for an experienced Senior R&D Hardware Engineer. This permanent role offers a hybrid work schedule with an immediate start.
  
Role Overview:
  • Spearhead the development of an advanced multi-finger robotic hand through multiple fast-paced design iterations.
  • Engage in high-level decisions concerning the architecture and design of the robotic hand.
  • Apply analytical approaches, such as mathematical modeling and simulations, to design, refine, and optimize cutting-edge robotic hands.
  • Oversee the entire process from concept creation, CAD modeling, analysis, documentation, to validation, ensuring technical viability and market readiness.
  • Develop and test mechanical subsystems of the hand to evaluate the feasibility of concepts.  
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software for creating intricate part geometries.
  • Experienced in designing and constructing prototype hardware.
  • Skilled in simulation and analysis tools (e.g., FEA, MATLAB).
  • Knowledgeable in miniature actuators and drivetrains, both linear and rotary.
  • Familiar with fingertip sensing technologies.
  • Adept at integrating electromechanical components, including sensors, motors, motor drivers, wiring, and communication systems.
  • Experienced in designing complex, highly articulated robotic systems.
  • Well-versed in the latest developments in dexterous robotic manipulation.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on solving intricate electro-mechanical challenges.
  • Proven track record of delivering sophisticated electromechanical systems, such as robots, industrial automation equipment, or related systems combining actuation, motion control, custom sensor integration, and electronics.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping and fabrication techniques, including CNC/manual machining, welding, laser cutting, and additive manufacturing.
