Seeking a Director of Robotics to lead the overall, full body humanoid robotics development. Overseeing a talented team of Controls Engineers you'll drive the design, and development of cutting edge Control Algorithms towards Hardware innovation, implementation and deployment.
Director of Robotics responsibilities:
- Lead optimization of robotic system performance, including motion planning, trajectory optimization, and state estimation, with expertise in whole body control, model predictive control, and RL/imitation learning.
- Provide strategic leadership for the robotics division, aligning with company goals and defining a clear roadmap for system development and deployment.
- Oversee the development of innovative robotic solutions from concept to commercialization, driving research to enhance capabilities.
- Collaborate with product management and hardware teams to translate customer needs into technical specifications and product features.
- Grow and manage a high-caliber technical team, fostering talent development and career progression.
- Set engineering roadmaps, manage daily operations, and ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Mentor team leaders, encourage innovation, and oversee system tests to ensure software performance in hardware.
- Deliver and maintain production-grade software for products.
- PhD in robotics with 7+ years of experience
- Proficient in production-grade C++ software design and development
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Cross functional team management - Controls, Autonomy, and Controls Infrastructure
- Technical versed in Robotics Controls, Whole Body Controls, Physics Based Controls
- Proven track record in leading development teams and managing full project lifecycles
- Algorithm development
- Consistent delivery of high-quality software aligned with company goals
- Expertise in Agile development, design/code reviews, and DevOps practices
- Experience with CI/CD and testing processes
- Nice to have: applied machine learning, UIX/product development, perception systems, or fleet management infrastructure
