As a Data Engineer for a leading agency, you will unlock data potential and drive innovation. Working closely with the CDO, you will seek to drive both strategy and governance whilst building capabilities. Based in Canberra, this role is initial for 12 months with strong potential for extensions.
  
Data Engineer Responsibilities:  

• Create and enhance data lakes, CI/CD, and Synapse pipelines using the Azure stack.
• Establish scalable architecture principles for pipeline development.
• Oversee data migration and integration projects for significant transformation programs.
• Maintain data integrity and ensure alignment of engineering activities with program goals.
• Guide team members and promote the adoption of new data engineering practices.
• Track and optimize data service performance and expenses.
• Ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant with data governance policies.
• Stay at the forefront of Azure data engineering through ongoing research and innovation.

Data Engineer Skills and Experience:  

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• in Azure Data Services, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Over 3 years of experience in data engineering with a specialization in Azure services.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, and R.
• Proven capability in designing and implementing scalable data architectures.
• Knowledge of DevOps methodologies and tools within the Azure environment.
• Skilled in data profiling, cleansing, and engineering frameworks.
• Must be an Australian citizen with at least a Baseline Security clearance
