Technical Lead – Windows Apps, Embedded Linux & Azure Serverless
Sydney (Parramatta)
Full-Time | Hybrid

We’re partnering with a leading technology organisation in Western Sydney to hire a Technical Lead who will shape the future of their core software platforms.

This role sits across legacy Windows applications, embedded Linux services, and modern Azure serverless architectures—bringing together firmware, backend, and cloud teams to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable systems.

Acting as both a hands-on architect and mentor, you’ll drive technical quality, modernisation, and innovation across the entire product stack.

Responsibilities
  • Provide architectural direction across C++, .NET Framework, .NET 8, Python, and containerised workloads.
  • Lead the modernisation of legacy systems (VB6, .NET Framework) into modular, testable, cloud-integrated solutions.
  • Design hybrid systems that connect on-prem services with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, and other serverless tools.
  • Implement CI/CD, DevOps, and observability practices across all environments.
  • Mentor engineers on software design, automation, and cross-platform integration.
  • Define system architectures focused on integration, persistence, observability, and secure configuration.
  • Translate technical roadmaps into clear, actionable delivery plans.
  • Drive architectural and peer reviews, collaborating with Firmware, Cloud Platform, Core Services, QA, Cyber, and Product teams.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of software development experience across C++, .NET, and cloud systems.
  • Strong understanding of both on-prem and Azure cloud architectures.
  • Experience uplifting and refactoring legacy systems into modern, modular codebases.
  • Hands-on experience designing serverless solutions (Event Grid, Service Bus, Functions, Storage Queues).
  • Proficiency with Docker and orchestration tools (K3s, Nomad, or Azure Container Apps).
  • Solid knowledge of database design, optimisation, and hybrid data sync.
  • CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Octopus Deploy.
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and production readiness.
Desirable:
  • Embedded Linux and Yocto experience.
  • React/TypeScript or Flutter exposure.
  • Experience with observability tools (Loki, Grafana, Seq, Sentry).
  • Message-driven architecture experience (NATS JetStream, Kafka).
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Bicep, Pulumi).
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or Electrical Engineering (Computer Science preferred).
Benefits
  • Hybrid working: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday in-office.
  • Location perks: Western Suburbs of Sydney — 12 mins from the CBD by train, ~25 mins by car.
  • Modern workplace: Onsite parking, newly upgraded offices, and a supportive, collaborative engineering culture.
  • Opportunity to lead major architectural modernisation across firmware, backend, and cloud layers.
  • Work directly with senior technical and product leaders to shape long-term engineering direction.
If you’re a technical leader with a passion for architecture, cloud systems, and modernising complex platforms, we’d love to hear from you.

Candidates must have full Australian working rights.
